Jacksonville Jamboree: the annual Jacksonville Jamboree is held the first Saturday in May at the Jacksonville Commons. Come for musical entertainment, the exciting 'Jacksonville's Got Talent' competition, as well as food and marketplace vendors. Demonstrations from local organizations as well as a carnival rides, children's activity and play area make the Jacksonville Jamboree a well-rounded event for the family.
National Night Out (NNO): NNO is held annually the first Tuesday in August at Riverwalk Crossing Park in downtown Jacksonville. NNO is America's night out against crime. The City of Jacksonville along with community partners hosts this exciting annual event to celebrate community and to promote crime prevention.
Onslow Oktoberfest: set at Riverwalk Park in downtown Jacksonville, Oktoberfest starts with an early morning 5K and offers several activities throughout the day. Come prepared to run and walk and spend the day enjoying lots of mouthwatering bratwurst & beer, incredible family fun, entertainment and variety of arts and crafts.
Christmas Holiday Parade: this annual tradition in the Jacksonville community kick starts start the holiday season, held the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Every year many spectators come from all over to watch and enjoy this beautiful parade travel down Western BLVD near Costal Community College in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville Winterfest: held the first weekend in December at Riverwalk Park in downtown Jacksonville this festive event offers fun for the whole family including children’s games, ice sculptures, holiday entertainment, food, pony, hay and train rides. Children can have their picture taken with Santa and visit Santa's Workshop. Highlights include sledding with real snow, the annual tree lighting, and spectacular Flotilla on the New River.
Schools & Child Care
There are seven DoDEA/DDESS schools on MCB Camp Lejeune/MCAS New River. To enroll a new student at Camp Lejeune area school, bring a copy of their birth certificate, a social security number, and proof of immunizations. Camp Lejeune - New River's Child & Youth Program (CYP) offers safe, high quality childcare for infants and children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Full-time, part-time and hourly care options are available.

Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and New River Air
Station are a massive installation that wraps around the New River
tidal estuary and borders the Atlantic Ocean. These 156,000-acre
installations have a mix of pine forests, calm river shores, and
miles of coastline available for amphibious and ground training.
Camp Lejeune/New River is home to the 2nd Marine Expeditionary
Force, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Logistics Group and multiple
other combat units and aviation support commands.
